4-Poster Beds in Solid Maple, Cherry, or Walnut
Shaker Style Built Like Never Before
The difference between yesterday's Shaker and today's, at least by the means of production used by Maple Corner, hinges on sourcing sustainably harvested hardwood. Although this might be an anachronism as far as the history of decorative arts is concerned, its relevance now rests with all of us.
The way something looks is important, just as the quality of construction, and this traditional woodworking shop realizes the value of adding to the equation a genuine respect for the environment and awareness of how our practices affect the places we live. From our perspective at workingwonders, what we produce and purchase has this sort of affect on the world outside our doors, and on the world within.
Go natural with a beautiful hardwood bed, expertly made to last for generations.

Maple: The sapwood from hard northern maple trees is preferred for its figured detail and rich, golden color.
Cherry: Heartwood is used exclusively throughout each piece.
Walnut: Heartwood is once again used exclusively in each piece. Note there is additional cost associated with building any piece of furniture from walnut.
These beds are designed to support a mattress without a box spring, doing so by means of ten (10) hardwood slats that lock into the side rails through hardwood dowels. King sizes use a hardwood backbone for added rigidity. In either case, the entirety of the bed remains open underneath, promoting a light aesthetic uncommon to solid hardwood furniture.
An important feature to note, the headboard and footboard are connected to the legs with mortise and tenon joints. Similar to the deadbolt in your front door, a solid wood connection is formed between components by securing the tenon between each piece, locking into the mortise. This joint is vastly superior to metal plates and screws as it prevents fracturing under sheer stress, and is a major contributing factor to why some pieces of furniture last while others do not.
Side rails are connected to the headboard and footboard by a steel quick latch assisted by a steel plate countersunk within the wood of the legs.
Guarantee: Every piece of Maple Corner Woodworks furniture is guaranteed for as long as you own it. These pieces are built to last for generations, and Maple Corner are willing to stand behind this claim.
Care & Maintenance:
Maple Corner does not recommend the use of commercial polishes or waxes. Use a clean cotton cloth to wipe off dust from natural wood. For maintenance, apply linseed oil (or a high quality furniture oil that contains no petroleum dryers or thinners) approximately once every six to twelve months. Regular oiling deepens the glow of the wood and restores the finish from abrasions.
